Another day, another ORBX release. Block Island State Airport (KBID) was featured a few days ago, and it is already available for purchase.
It looks to be a great addition to the sim as it will allow short hops to this small airport to be made from multiple large hubs. KJFK, KEWR and KBOS to name a few.
Block Island State Airport is the second airport on the eastern coast of the United States from Orbx, and the tenth airport from developer Alex Goff whose previous works include Meigs Field and Bar Harbor. Block Island is just 13 miles offshore from mainland Rhode Island and can be reached by a New England Airlines BN-2 Twin Islander in just 12 minutes. Featuring entire photoreal coverage of Block Island in 35cm resolution, there are many points of interest to explore. Lighthouses, harbors, beaches, bluffs, and windfarms are all a short flight away, along an incredibly detailed model of the airport.
Here are the features of this release:
-Complete 35cm photoreal resolution coverage of Block Island (10sq mi)
-HD rendition of KBID Block Island State Airport
-Crisp 5m terrain mesh derived from LIDAR data, perfect for displaying the sandy cliffs and bluffs of the island
-Island points of interest including North Light, Southeast Light, Block Island Wind Farm, US Coast Guard Station Block Island, marinas, hotels, local coastal New England architecture and custom autogen, and the village of New Shoreham
-Lite rendition of KWST Westerly State Airport for BN-2 Twin Islander hops
-Full suite of ObjectFlow, PeopleFlow, TextureFlow, and StaticFlow including new static New England Airlines BN-2
-Stand-alone product, only requires Orbx Libraries
You can purchase the airport directly from ORBX at a price of A$24.95.
